In Q1 2023, the top five social apps on the Android platform in Nigeria showcased varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at their performance.

TikTok from TikTok Pte. Ltd. saw a noticeable fluctuation in weekly downloads, starting with approximately 89K in the last week of December and dropping to around 65K by mid-February. However, it rebounded to nearly 80K by the end of March. The app's weekly revenue peaked at about $7.9K in the final week of December, then experienced a gradual decrease, ending the quarter at around $7.2K. Active users remained relatively stable, with minor fluctuations, averaging around 1.4M throughout the quarter.

Poppo live from the poppo team had a mixed quarter. Weekly downloads decreased from approximately 6.8K at the start of the quarter to around 4K by the end. Revenue also saw a decline, starting at $3.1K and dropping to about $1.9K by the end of March. Active users fluctuated slightly, averaging around 15K throughout the quarter.

Bigo Live - Live Streaming App by Bigo Technology Pte. Ltd. experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads, reaching approximately 14K by the end of March, up from around 11K at the start of the quarter. Revenue saw a peak of $4.3K in mid-February, ending the quarter at about $2.9K. Active users remained fairly consistent, hovering around 160K.

Unlimited Texting, Calling App from Dingtone Phone showed significant variations in weekly downloads, starting at about 1.8K in late December and peaking at approximately 7.8K by early January. Revenue peaked at $1.6K at the end of January, with minor fluctuations throughout the quarter, ending at around $1.3K. Active users saw an overall increase, starting at around 30K and reaching approximately 44K by the end of March.

MIGO Live-Voice and Video Chat by MIGO LIVE had a challenging quarter. Weekly downloads started at approximately 10K but dropped to around 6.5K by the end of March. Revenue also declined significantly, from about $1.3K at the start of the quarter to just under $300 by the end. Active users saw a decrease from around 12.4K to approximately 10.5K.
